State Representative Kyle Koehler recently introduced House Bill 200, a House companion bill to Senator Huffman’s Senate Bill 85. A companion bill is legislation introduced in one legislative chamber that is an identical version of legislation introduced in the other legislative chamber. Having the same bill pending in each chamber allows the House and Senate members the opportunity to work on the issue at the same time.
The bill proposes consolidation of the EdChoice, Income-Based and Cleveland Scholarship programs to create a single, income-based state scholarship called the Ohio Opportunity Scholarship.
The bill will receive its first hearing this afternoon in the House Education and Career Readiness Committee, where Representative Koehler will be giving sponsor testimony.
