The Ohio EdChoice Scholarship is a K-12 scholarship worth up to $4,375 for elementary and middle school and up to $5,150 per year for high school. The scholarship can be used at any of the 300 participating private schools and transportation to the private schools is often available. Eligible students can renew the scholarship all the way through their graduation from high school.
In order to be eligible, students must be attending or assigned to a public school that has been in academic watch or academic emergency for two of the last three years. This includes all entering kindergarten students who are assigned to these underperforming schools. The number of scholarships is capped at 14,000 statewide, 7,000 of which were used in the program’s first two years. In 2008, more than 100,000 students in 225 public schools are eligible.

The Ohio Autism Scholarship Program is a program administered by the Ohio Department of Education’s Office for Exceptional Children (ODE/OEC). Using the Autism Scholarship, parents can send their autistic child to a special education program other than the one operated by their child’s public school district to receive the services outlined in the child’s individualized education program (IEP).
The scholarships are worth up to $20,000 annually and can be used to pay for services at approved registered alternate providers. More than 700 Ohio students have used the Autism Scholarship since it became available in 2003. For more information, you can call ODE/OEC at 1-877-644-6338.
